LeadHer Shift Ep.1 ft. Janeen Wilson – Leadership through a Psychotherapist Lens

Episode 1 of LeadHer Shift features Janeen Wilson, who is a psychotherapist, creative practitioner, and entrepreneur, as she shares challenges within her career and life, and how she has lead, shifted and navigated them towards triumphant results.

About Janeen Wilson

With 18 years experience working with children and young people in the creative and therapeutic industries, Janeen sees supporting generations to come as her passion. She has worked in schools, colleges, theatre companies, Young offenders institutions, hospitals and outpatient mental health facilities.

Currently working part time as a Team Leader for one of the UK's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, she provides cognitive behaviour therapy and dramatherapy to children and young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression and OCD. She also focuses on the emotional health and well-being of young people and their families through her private practice, Creative Lotus.

Creative Lotus works nationally and internationally with children, young people and their families to support access to therapeutic services. They also offer workshops, seminars and consultation to external organisations. 

Overall, Janeen sees herself as an advocate for children and young people and sees it as her role to ensure their voices are always heard.

Janeen shares that with any leadership challenges she may have had over the years, she's relied on mentorship, journalling and vision boarding to keep her on track with the right mindset for success.

She also advocates for rewarding yourself, as a tool for continued shifts in the right direction.  As part of those rewards she shares two (2) fun facts about herself, and what keeps her going.

Her advise to any woman or professional out there who is starting, growing or shifting on their journey as leaders, whether in life, career or business, especially in this COVID-19 climate, is to:

  1. Pivot;
  2. Find Your Purpose;
  3. Attain a Mentor;
  4. Plan for Change; and,
  5. Do Nothing (if that is what you need most) to Remove the Pressure.
